Video Production in Film Festivals
Live Event Production is an exciting career; the job is always changing, working with and for new and interesting people certainly keeps things interesting. It can be a challenge at times; long hours with quick turnarounds & the pressure of deadlines can be stressful.
When it’s all said and done, I don’t believe many of us would trade this job for many. The reward in completing some of these seemingly impossible production asks, is at times unrivaled. This is why many of us take the free time we have to work on personal/passion projects, further fulfilling that filmmaker itch that never seems to be fully scratched.
Competing in San Francisco’s 48hr Film Festival
Repertoire’s team took the opportunity again this year to compete in San Francisco’s 48hr Film Festival. A project that we have worked on in the past and is always something we look forward to as a team. An amazing opportunity to take the talented people we work with everyday, and work towards a project of true passion.
The 48 Hour Film Project is an annual film competition in which teams of filmmakers are assigned a genre, a character, a prop, and a line of dialogue, a wild and sleepless weekend in which you and a team make a movie – in just 48 hours.. We were ready for the opportunity, knew it was going to be a challenge, but filled with excitement.

Producing a movie in 48hrs is no easy task. Typically, a movie will be shot, written and edited over a several month period. This, allowing for proper pre-production, story development, shot capture and editing. Without taking the proper steps when making a film, the entire project will suffer.
Filmmaking in 48 with a Production Company in San Francisco

When making a movie in 48hrs it becomes increasingly apparent when underprepared and mistakes are made. 48hrs is quite a small window, every minute counts. Its reasons like this that makes it even more valuable to have a seasoned production team, who’s worked in in situations like this before and can take the added pressure. We’re lucky to have the benefit of working with crew who’s not only worked on this festival before, but who produce content for clients under similar circumstances. Investing in a stellar crew or production company is almost like insurance, they’ll rectify just about all issues on set, if not entirely avoiding, while mitigating those in the future. A solid crew is key.
An important consideration when producing a stellar film is cost. Making a movie isn’t cheap and it doesn’t take much for cut corners to be seen, remembering your budget and having a production company that works within it realistically is paramount. A good production company will help reduce or change the overall vision to something more practical, we feel it’s better execute 1 idea perfectly than 2 ideas poorly. Repertoire Productions is a quality of quantity San Francisco production company.
