Repertoire has helped produce and broadcast many TEDx events, including the original in (San Francisco) in 2011, and since then we’ve learned a thing or two about growing a big show from a small budget. We have developed an expansive collection of creative tools that allow us to approach or match the production value of officially organized TED events– events whose budgets can run into the millions.

Not just a Staging Company
Creative pre-visualization of stage design is key to coordinating teams on big projects. Your event needs to look and sound better than previous events, and stay fresh with modern expectations. At Repertoire, we use 3D design software to create CAD stage renderings so you can understand exactly what the event entails. On a recent event at SFJazz, we custom fabricated more than 20 different stage pieces and installed crisp clean carpeting on the venues unique stage configuration.
We also hunted down the best sources for printed banners, and our creative director personally examined test materials to select the best type for the event. These methodical and detail oriented steps are part of good design, and the remaining part is having an in-depth understanding of real production techniques. While developing a vision for the stage, we can virtually build the stage using common materials and create a shopping list right from the design. This saves the client time and money and makes everyone look like a hero on set.
Next Level Event Vectorworks CAD Drawings
Drawing an event in 3D VectorWorks has a plethora of benefits. First of all, we’re able to design the event with the industry standard audio visual and lighting equipment, in the exact location we have available to set it in.
For example, an industry standard light is the Leko Source 4. We can actually 3D model the CEO and light them with the industry standard lights in the position available in the venue. This is cool from a visualization perspective as well as practical from design to fabrication perspective.
Sometimes venues have their little quirks. That’s why we 3D model the entire building with the existing architecture intact, we can perfectly measure sound, lighting and audio levels, throws and angles, so there are no surprises on set.
A Touching Moment Inspired by Event Design
Repertoire recently worked with a client that wanted to bring their annual keynote conference to the next level. The year previous, this client worked with the in house hotel AV team. The CEO literally said, that last year’s PA system, “looked like something at my son’s Bar Mitzvah.” We designed a color adjustable backlit stage for this client with about 10 rounds of edits.
The PA was fit for a king. When the CEO walked into the room with his wife, they saw the set and gave each other a hug. We realize how important it is to impress your audience and bring value to our clients. Our clients pay our bills, and it’s really touching for us that we could design and build an event for them that brought them such relief, and joy. Needless to say, we’ll be collaborating again next year with the goal of upping the game even more.
