Virtual Conferences and Events!
Repertoire Productions was an early adopter and innovator of using livestreaming to facilitate corporate communications. Since 2010 we have been live streaming quarterly meetings and events for such notable clients as Airbnb, Google, Square, LinkedIn, EA and more. We also continue to give back to the community by sponsoring, producing and live streaming events for TEDx, Tech Inclusion, CREDO Action Network, San Francisco Gay Mens Choir and others.
Given that virtual events are a mix of VOD (video on demand), live streaming, and social media tie-ins, Repertoire is already perfectly positioned to ensure that you and your attendees are delighted with your virtual event experience. And unlike the thousands of AV companies that suddenly claim to be experts in these fields, we’ve been live streaming and producing virtual events and hybrid virtual events for the biggest brands for the last decade.
As the COVID-19 epidemic continues to roil society, and in particular large in person events, the pivot to online virtual meetings has ramped up quickly. While we all miss working closely with our clients and colleagues, virtual events do provide some significant advantages over the typical big ballroom show. Please read on to see 5 ways virtual events actually have the advantage over in person ones!
Cost!

- This is probably the most significant difference between the two formats. Anyone who has planned an event for more than 50 people, especially in San Francisco knows that renting a venue, providing an impressive stage, PA, display and scenery, as well as feeding and providing accommodations for your attendees does not come cheap. Add in the union labor often required at the established venues in the desirable parts of the city and you can easily be looking at a six figure tab for a medium sized event, and into the millions for a large event. Virtual events require almost none of these things. Your main costs are the platform you choose to host your event on, the pre-production time spent on shooting and editing video content and creating digital assets and whatever venue and production costs your production company charges. All of these can and should be lower than what a large hotel and labor union would charge.

Scale!
- Your event is no longer limited to the number of people that can fit in a venue. Lower production costs mean that more tickets can be sold, and the price per ticket can come down. Or, you can keep it exclusive.

ROI

- Another arena that Virtual Events shine is that they provide a wealth of data that can be used to provide solid return on investment. Not only will you know how many participants will be logged in at any one time, you can track how many one on one interactions are made, how many contacts exchanged, a log of all questions and instantly viewable video on demand at the end of each session. We assume that people are networking and being productive at live events, but they could also be snookering off for a pint and some quality time with their phone. With live analytics and metrics, we can know for sure how your attendees are spending their time.
Direct connections on Social Media
- Especially with the millennial and z generation, being connected virtually is just as meaningful as being connected in person. Creating new relationships on Linkedin, Reddit, Instagram, Facebook, or even on myspace (kidding), is becoming more and more important, especially in the days of social distancing. See how we feel about creating meaningful connections at your virtual event here.
Environmental

- An inescapable reality of live events is that they produce a lot of waste. From the large diesel trucks that often need to drive long distances fully laden with heavy equipment, to the piles of batteries that a left behind after a multi day event, to the giant backdrops and theater flats that are typically discarded at the end of the show and even the airline exhaust released into the atmosphere from flying in conference attendees, talent and crew-it all adds up to a big carbon footprint. Again, virtual events have none of these. Presenters and viewers can both call in without leaving the house. Without the need for large PA’s or displays, the energy required to power the tech needed is going to be a fraction of a large live event. While you might need 500 amps to of 3-phase power in a ballroom set, you can usually run everything you need for a virtual event on one 20 amp circuit and a fast network connection.
Creating memorable and engaging virtual events
- When choosing a production partner for your next virtual event, your priority should be finding a company that has experience producing them. There are so many large AV companies that claim they can do virtually anything for your next virtual event-but the reality is they don’t even know the first thing about streaming video, which is the fundamental concept the underpins every virtual show. At Repertoire we have been filming and streaming high quality video for the last decade. Our exclusive partnership with Production Line Studios means that we have a high quality, fully customizable sound stage at our disposal. We’d love to show you how we can help your next virtual event be your best show yet.
