The brief
Open TEDxPresidio with a moment the audience in the room would remember, and that would keep viewers engaged online.
What we did
We produced a 3D film in which a kung fu artist summoned the TEDx X out of a cave and carried it, flipping, all the way to the Palace of Fine Arts.
As the film ended, the real performer ran down the theater aisle, leapt onto the stage and placed the X between TED and Presidio, then took a bow, flipped off the stage and exited.
The opening earned an innovation award, part of a TEDx track record that spans 27 events, including the very first TEDx.
