The brief
TEDxBerkeley wanted to raise the bar and do something dramatic and different: an emotional experience for the audience, built around the X that anchors every TEDx stage.
What we did
We designed and mapped the entire stage in Vectorworks, so every projector position was planned before load-in.
- Built the X in our warehouse in two halves from plywood, finished with grey screen paint made for projection, and joined it on stage at Zellerbach Hall, where it stood 15 feet tall.
- Stacked two high-output projectors to double the brightness, because the presenters' stage lighting spills onto the X.
- Mapped the content to the X with projection-mapping software after weeks of testing in the warehouse.
